Brighton's Front Room Folk are a folk collective formed in 2011. We play a lot of Celtic and English, some French, Swedish, American, some klezmer, even some John Barry. Sometimes we sing.
We started in each others' eponymous front rooms and have since played street parties, gigs, ceilidhs, St Patrick's days and Burns nights. Until you-know-what we had a weekly Sunday night session open to all at the Chimney House. Now we keep our fingers loose in parks, all neatly spaced out.
We don't aim to be like conventional sessions which can be quite scary to newcomers and sometimes pretty earnest. Sheet music is not frowned upon so no need to know tons of tunes. Some of us are brilliant. Some of us struggle to keep up. It's about having fun.
